LEON Olin (Letters, October 22) writes of ‘back handers’ paid for ‘interest’ in so-called renewable energy.

I am a staunch supporter of sustainable technologies; however, corrupt practices can never be justified in any walk of life.

Mr Olin has made a serious allegation; as a dutiful citizen, he is now obliged to either publish details and names, or at the very least provide the Western Telegraph with proof that he has fully disclosed what he knows to the local authority.

Just as importantly - Mr Olin talks of “so-called renewable energy”, implying that in this respect also he knows something that the rest of us don’t.

If he has absolute proof that the sun is going to stop shining, or that the wind is about to stop blowing, or that the tides will soon stop flowing, or that the waves will no longer break, he had better call a United Nations summit conference immediately, so that he can brief all the world’s leaders, and prominent scientists and engineers from every country.

Otherwise the human race will be heading in quite the wrong direction as it tries to move away from fossil fuels with all their associated wars, shenanigans and pollution problems.
