THERE is a planning application for a wind turbine on the Haverfordwest to Broad Haven road, in the field contained by the “White Railings”, near the junction to Nolton.
On the opposite side of the road there is already a large wind turbine. If this latest application is allowed to proceed there will in effect be a wind farm straddling the already dangerous junction at the turn off to the Nolton road.
Surely the distraction of large turbines either side of this junction cannot be condoned by Pembrokeshire County Council’s (PCC) road safety experts?
The recent rejection by PCC of the application near Wolfscastle was also based on the grounds “… would be a distraction for those driving in the vicinity.” This proposal is no different, and would possibly be a greater distraction.
Having two wind turbines in a fairly small area has a great negative impact on the local landscape. It would also pave the way for further construction of wind turbines along the ridge between Portfield Gate and Broadway.
Why should the local populace accept this degradation of their area?
Wind turbines are inefficient, with only a limited wind speed window in which to produce energy. Erection of large wind turbines are not for the benefit of the community in which they are sited, but are used by individuals purely for profit.
They do not benefit the locals, yet reduce the amenity of the area.
