RECENTLY we were in Pembrokeshire visiting family and friends and as usual we buy the local newspapers.
In one there was a full page recruitment advertisement for carers to in a number of places around the county.
What surprised us was that they were offering £7.75 per hour for all carers without qualifications and £7.85 for those with QCF Level 3 qualifications, this is a difference of only 10p per hour and will also be reduced by income tax and National Insurance.
Given the cost and amount of time and effort needed to obtain the Level 3 qualification one must question whether it is worth it for such a very small difference in wages?
