PEMBROKESHIRE County Council Library Service is now operating as a ‘community service’.
Drop-in centres for health advice, newly furnished in gobbit green, very expensive new chairs tables furnishing and decoration.
All replacing the same tables and chairs in blue.
Computer terminals all occupied by benefit claimants searching for the same nonexistent jobs.
On all the screens the same low paid minimum wage jobs, all no hours contracts.
The claimants have to apply for a minimum number of jobs each day to qualify for benefits, so they all apply for the same job.
The tables and chairs are taken by claimants being policed and directed by Jobs Centre staff advisers who have to follow to the letter the job centre scripts.
No new books are being bought, the existing stock is sourced from reduced price remainders.
The staff are not librarians and have all been transferred recently to no hours, minimum wage, six month, non renewing contracts with no holidays or pension contributions.
They are not employed at a particular library, but each day can be directed to a different branch in the county with no travelling allowance.
This is all our fates if the Con Dem government is returned at the next election – no job security, starvation wages, economic servitude to pay the rich to get richer.
