I NOTE that the Steeleye Span concert widely advertised in your newspaper as “Haverfordwest Folk / Rock Festival” has been cancelled.
Unfortunately for ticket sales, there are several “festivals”
on at this time of year.
The Fishguard Folk Festival will take place May to 25 May (the same dates as the proposed Haverfordwest Folk/Rock) and has been taking place on that same weekend (late May Bank Holiday) for nearly twenty years. The kind of music is very similar and the Fishguard Festival is mostly free. It has lots of family friendly events, as well as late-night contemporary folk, so something for everyone!
It is usually a very popular event.
Trying to run two such festivals on the same date, so geographically close and with the same kind of music is bound to have had difficulties.
May I take this opportunity to invite any “folk/rock”
audience who are disappointed in lack of tickets, to come up to Fishguard where the whole town is part of the Fishguard Festival fun!
