ON the evening of Saturday, June 13, I was walking with my wife on the sea side of the Chapel at St Govan’s Point, Pembroke, when I slipped and sustained a fractured left ankle.

I would be grateful if I could pass on my thanks and also those of my wife Pauline, for the excellent assistance that we received.

To the lady and her sons who initially came to my assistance and then remained with my wife until I was airlifted to Morriston Hospital with the Sea King from RMB Chivenor.

To the ambulance crew from Pembroke who came to my assistance and remained with me likewise.

To the Bosherston Coastguard Cliff Rescue team, who not only stayed throughout the whole incident, but also ensured that my wife was safely returned to our holiday cottage at Pembroke Dock.

To the gentleman who was with his three European friends rock climbing in the area and were prepared to carry me out of the accident area, if the Sea King had not been available.

I was in Morriston Hospital until June 16, during which time I was operated on for the broken ankle.

Thankfully, I was able to return to Pembroke for the remainder of the week but I am now back home in Gloucester.

Once again my sincere thanks to everyone, I don’t know what we would have done without their assistance for we could get no mobile phone coverage, from the scene of the accident or on top of the cliff. God Bless you all.
