MILFORD doesn’t deserve a town band. The reason - a concert arranged to raise money for ongoing needs, was not supported very well on July 11, at the Torch Theatre.
It was barely half full! A wonderful evening of entertainment was missed. The main Band - excellent, the Youth Band of 8-11year olds, was absolutely brilliant and the guests, Neyland Ladies Choir, superb as usual. We should and must be proud of the musical talent in the area and be pleased to support their efforts. The free concert in the Memorial Gardens for the Festivities Week, was worse still, with roughly only 20-25 people attending.
The compere for the Saturday Concert, gave up many hours to travel to Milford for the honour of assisting with the Concert and the Band, of which he was a member.
So please, in future, support your own assets.
