Regarding your story ‘TTIP protest takes to the streets’ of Haverfordwest – I was pleased to sign the petition outside the National Assembly in March, along with my Plaid Cymru colleague Elin Jones to ask Prime Minister David Cameron to take the Welsh NHS out of TTIP agreement.
The Welsh NHS could be put at risk by the trade agreement Transatlantic Trade Investment Partnership known as TTIP Private companies could be given the rights to run parts of our public services, particularly the NHS Negotiations relating to this European - US trade deal must ensure the NHS is protected from potential private interference. The NHS’s role as a public service is sacrosanct, and there is no place for profiteering within it.
The French Government led by Francois Hollande has shielded important aspects of their public life and the Conservative Government must do the same for the Welsh NHS. Otherwise we could see the disastrous privatisation agenda in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire like we have seen in England.
