n your article ‘Country Life on the Cleddau’, on July 29, the writer informs us that the English pronunciation of Llangwm is Lang-um, soft g. I must take issue over this mispronunciation. It has always been Llangwm English pronunciation Langum (hard g). The emphasis is on the last syllable. The born and bred villages cringe with the wrong and slovenly pronunciation.
Sadly the mispronunciation by many, no more so than the presenters of Radio Pembs.
The latter being guilty of mispronunciation a host of local names.
