YOUR report ‘Meeting is on over the fate of centre’ (Hubberston Community Centre) concludes with a statement from a council spokesman that the centre has experienced a decline in its usage.

What the spokesman omitted to say is that it has been the council’s strategy to orchestrate a drop in attendance, in order to bolster its decision to stop funding the centre.

They decided to move the community’s two-nights-aweek youth club to Milford Haven Youth Centre at the Meads.

Prior to the youth club leaving the centre, up to March this year, the building’s two halls were in use on a daily basis; three evenings a week in the main hall; and occasional weekends.

This is testament to the popularity of the centre and why it is valued by the community.

I urge people to come along to the public meeting on Wednesday, September 23, at 7pm at the centre.
