This old, historical town of Haverfordwest which has a Mayor, Sheriff, Admiral of Port a county in its own right and once had an MP, has no town hall or concert hall, maybe the only town in Great Britain without one or the other.

Everyone thought the Shire Hall was the town hall and Sir Thomas Picton Hall was the concert hall, but these properties are nothing to do with Haverfordwest. Shire Hall is now leased and inaccessible to the public and the school hall is owned by the County Council.

There is a property empty at the moment in the centre of town and would make a town hall and behind it a concert hall, parking could be available and County Hall, especially at night.

That property is The Old Post Office in Quay Street, a magnificent building dressed in Bath Stone and the sorting office behind could easily seat 600+ people as a concert venue.

This project would cost millions and the sad cry would be ‘we haven’t or can’t raise the money’!

So I’m afraid for years to come Haverfordwest will not have a town or concert hall.
