Councillor Rob Lewis’s response hit the nail on the head: “While there are some adverse effects to some users, these were considered to be outweighed by the benefits...”
Adverse effects for the majority of users who drive cars and other vehicles along the A487.
Benefits for pedestrians and cyclists who form the vast minority of users.
Being allowed to queue from the previous roundabout or the mini roundabout in the opposite direction; crossing a green traffic light to be confronted by a vehicle coming from the right; queuing to get out from Swan Square.
Are these thought to be ‘benefits’?
The truth is, opinion does not count.
