MR Derek Rees’ amusing ode (Noveber 16) contains a serious message and I, for one, am grateful for it. It is a warning of yet another hazardous feature introduced by our council.
I recently fell victim - literally - to the Park Road Enhancement Scheme in Tenby where a strip of raised paving has been installed to delineate a loading bay and apparently ‘to assist in controlling highway surface water’. This design feature appears elsewhere in Tenby and, I understand, in other parts of the county.
Recent improvement schemes by the council appear to place pedestrian safety, particularly that of the elderly, infirm and visually impaired, secondary to design. Perhaps it is time to pause and rethink this strategy to ensure our walkways safe for everybody.
