MAE datblygiad o 35 o dai wedi ei ganiatáu yn Nhrefdraeth er gwaethaf gwrthwynebiad.

Un o brif wrthwynebiadau Cymdeithas yr Iaith yw bod Polisi 12 y Cynllun Datblygu Lleol yn nodi’n glir fod angen rhoi ystyriaeth i’r Gymraeg gyda datblygiadau tai ble mae dros 30% o’r boblogaeth yn siarad Cymraeg. Mae 42% o bobl ward Trefdraeth yn siarad Cymraeg yn ôl Cyfrifiad 2011. Mae hynny’n ostyngiad o 6% ers Cyfrifiad 2001 ac rydyn ni’n rhagweld y byddai adeiladu cymaint o dai o’r maint sydd wedi ei fwriadu, yn effeithio ymhellach ar hyn.

Of the 35 houses allowed for development in Newport, the number of affordable houses is very small – originally the intention was to build 14 affordable houses and six houses for the open market, that better reflects the local need.

Although there are now 35 houses to be built, the number of affordable houses is the same. There are five three-bedroom house and 12 four-bedroom house as part of this development – who are they for? They will certainly out of the reach of local people, young people especially. 38% of houses in Newport are already holiday homes or second homes, there is a danger that the houses in this development will become holiday homes or second homes.
