OVER the past few weeks while watching the Olympic Games, the amazing Mo Farah received his gold medal, while in the background ‘God save the Queen’ was played.
What a completely ridiculous and outdated embarrassing national anthem we have.
The words do not mention anything about our fantastic country, or its wonderful people that represent it, just about one unelected woman who has become head of state by privilege.
Many of us believe in democracy have had enough of this outdated anthem and feel its time for one that represents us all.
With one third of the population now republic, one third royalists and the other third unsure (floaters), I am sure that very few people are aware of how verse six insults Scotland and would certainly not sing it if they knew.
