ONCE again we see in the Western Telegraph the local authority pleading poverty and threatening cuts to services, this time in the provision of leisure and culture services.

Well, perhaps it is time to follow the example of the Pembrokeshire Ramblers Group which has succeeded in ensuring Pembrokeshire County Council will spend considerable sums of money on the improvement of a public right of way between Narberth and Robeston Wathen which only this group seem to want.

The hundreds of pounds allocated to this work have been found despite the cuts in the provision of so many local services. The threat of legal action by the ramblers is undoubtedly well advised and perhaps an example as to how the rest of us could secure the services we think most important.

We should look at the legal requirements for the provision of services and we too might find that despite budget cuts money can be found when it suits.
