WHILE Britain has been in the EU, MPs have had an easy ride with taxpayers paying for two parliaments to do the work of formerly one.

Now we are leaving, they are complaining that the whole of parliamentary time is going to be taken up by Brexit legislation leaving little room for consideration of anything else.

The answer is clear: first devolve to local authorities (LAs) responsibility for important domestic areas such as education and social services.

LAs are nearer the people and would be able to respond more effectively to local needs.
