Support teen activity plan

Dear editor

It was with much sadness that I read, yet again, complaints regarding Pembrokeshire teenagers (“Police to target park teenagers,” Western Telegraph, June 3rd).

While I totally sympathise with the plight of the parents of under-12s to have dedicated play areas, perhaps energies could be channelled to supporting provision of facilities for the teenagers to enable them to continue to be active after the age of 12. After all, the current under-12s will need to progress once over 12 and hopefully maintain their outdoor leisure activities.

The Haverfordwest Skatepark Association was revitalised more than a year ago to address this problem. There is no current provision for appropriate free outdoor activity for teenagers.

We are making significant progress and would like to encourage those that have a grievance regarding the current exploits of our young people to join with us and create a purpose-built facility to meet their needs, not only for Haverfordwest, but for all Pembrokeshire. Please e-mail alison turneruk@yahoo.com, join the Facebook group (Haverfordwest Skatepark Association) and have your say regarding a skatepark facility for Pembrokeshire by filling in the online questionnaire at www.pembrokeshire youthzone.co.uk/content.asp

Alison Turner,
Secretary,
Haverfordwest Skatepark Association.

Unfortunately Alison, PCC doesn't listen to local voices.

Whilst Cllr Calver quite rightly tried to improve local council housing throughout the county this was turned down by the IPG controlled cabinet.

However, the proposal for a military museum in Pembroke Dock, promoted by the corrupt Councillor Brian Hall is feted by all and sundry, inlcuding the Western Telegraph, the council's official propaganda outlet because he is a member of the IPG also.

Similarly, while a sparsely populated area like Angle/Castlemartin benefits from several "luncheon clubs" because they are within the ward of IPG member John Allen-Mirehouse, a densely populated wards such as Hakin & Hubberston, the wards of the honourable Councillors Mrs & Mrs Stoddart have one in comparison.

The ruling IPG will only look after their own and aren't intersted in helping local youngsters unless it serves their own interests - otherwise they'd have consulted local people in St Davids on what facilities THEY wanted, rather than steamrollering their own proposals onto the local population which obviously wanted the opposite of what was being imposed on them in lieu of their swimming pool.
