Dear editor
It was with much sadness that I read, yet again, complaints regarding Pembrokeshire teenagers (“Police to target park teenagers,” Western Telegraph, June 3rd).
While I totally sympathise with the plight of the parents of under-12s to have dedicated play areas, perhaps energies could be channelled to supporting provision of facilities for the teenagers to enable them to continue to be active after the age of 12. After all, the current under-12s will need to progress once over 12 and hopefully maintain their outdoor leisure activities.
The Haverfordwest Skatepark Association was revitalised more than a year ago to address this problem. There is no current provision for appropriate free outdoor activity for teenagers.
We are making significant progress and would like to encourage those that have a grievance regarding the current exploits of our young people to join with us and create a purpose-built facility to meet their needs, not only for Haverfordwest, but for all Pembrokeshire. Please e-mail alison turneruk@yahoo.com, join the Facebook group (Haverfordwest Skatepark Association) and have your say regarding a skatepark facility for Pembrokeshire by filling in the online questionnaire at www.pembrokeshire youthzone.co.uk/content.asp
