Dear Editor
Regarding the recently published letters by Phil Lloyd and Colin Rogers about the choirs invited to South Hook’s recent royal visit, I should like to set the record straight.
South Hook did not “snub local choirs” when arranging the opening ceremony. Tenby Male Choir, was invited to perform but very regretfully we had to turn down the invitation because of a long-standing prior engagement.
As I understand it, the London agents acting for South Hook made an honest effort to involve other local choirs in their ceremony. They should therefore not be pilloried for inviting the Morriston Orpheus when these efforts did not meet with success.
