Dear Editor
April 1st will mark the controversial introduction of parking charges in our county, which is misguided in logic, and self-destructive if only in the realms of common sense and validity for local businesses.
Nevertheless we must bow to the wisdom of the County Councillors who voted to introduce them. How many more ‘pounds of flesh’ will be extracted as we recover from a recession?
A few years ago Wales introduced the smoking ban on April 1st, followed by free prescriptions. They were welcome announcements for April Fools Day, but these parking charges are not welcome or necessary.
Roll on the elections and then we may deservedly see who is the fool by using our democratic right to vote.
