In the article on the Lammas eco-village (Western Telegraph, August 4th) I was quoted as saying “Lammas doesn’t need society, but society needs Lammas”.
A more accurate quote would have been: “Society needs Lammas as much as Lammas needs society.”
The concept that I was trying to articulate is that the successful transition from oil-based economy to one-planet nation is dependent on us all working together.
This transformation will require radical lifestyle change, and it is a challenge that can only be successfully navigated by all aspects of our society (government, businesses, farmers, shoppers, youth) finding and implementing solutions together. We live in a finite world and as such we are all in the same boat.
We are very fortunate in Wales to have a government that recognises the predicament our civilisation is in.
We are on the cusp of massive change and we all have valuable roles to play in the impending transition.
