On the last day of a recent holiday in Newport, Pembrokeshire I woke up with a very painful tooth infection on the Saturday morning. Unable to speak my husband rang the Pembrokeshire Dental Centre, Newport emergency number and spoke to the one of their dentists who despite being on the top of Carningli proceeded to offer immediate advice on the painkillers I would need to take and suggested I visit the nearest emergency dentist in either Haverfordwest or Milford Haven that morning and also offered to come back to the Newport surgery if necessary to help me out later that day. Within 10 minutes of the conversation the dentist rang back and said that as it was the last day of my holiday he wanted me to enjoy it to the full and proceeded to an arrange for an antibiotic prescription to be made available for pick up at the Newport pharmacy within the next half an hour.

I would just like to offer my sincere gratitude to this dentist for his help as his prompt action meant that I was soon out of pain and able to spend the day walking the beautiful coast path near Whitesands and spent the afternoon on Traethmawr, Newport in the beautiful sunhine! I was also able to visit my own dentist upon my return who will now be able to proceed with the required treatment thanks to the speed at which I was able to start a course of antibiotics.

This is yet another example of the kindness and hospitality that I always experience each time I visit Pembrokeshire and which has fuelled my desire to return to live in an area where my great-grandparents, grandmother and many members of my family have enjoyed living for many generations.

Thank you to the dentist who certainly lived up to the dental centre’s promise…that is..Your smile is important to us. I am still smiling at the kindness shown to me on that day!
