Dear Editor:- Health and Safety – Recently I lost my telephone and computer connection. As it was daylight I didn’t realise it was due to a power cut. I have modern digital phones. If I had needed a phone in an emergency situation it could have caused a major problem. Fortunately, I have still got an old phone that plugs into the BT socket. When I connected this, my first message was from Western Power apologising for the power cut. The moral of this story is to recommend, even if you have up to date equipment, and have still got an old phone, keep it plugged into a phone socket somewhere in the house – just in case you really need one in an emergency.
