Poor pet provision

I WAS so sad to read the story about the dogs and can only imagine the family’s shock and horror (Western Telegraph, August 22nd).

Having dogs myself I know just how difficult it can be when travelling anywhere and wanting to visit places of interest when you have your dogs with you.

With few exceptions noone seems to bother about having shady areas in car parks where people with animals can park. It does not appear to be considered important.

In many cases I have decided not to stay and see something as there was nowhere in the shade for my dogs – no matter what the weather.

Yes, you have to keep going back to your car in any conditions to check that your dogs are ok, but when the majority of parking is in the open you have to make the decision either for someone to stay in the car with the animals or as a family go elsewhere.

We could of course as dog owners leave our dogs in kennels, but to many people their dog is part of the family and where they go he goes too.
