Paralympic pride in our county

MOST of us whether we are interested in sport or not had great pleasure in watching the Olympic games when athletes around the world descended on London to take part in the games.

The standard was high, many records were broken and Team GB came out third in the league table, a great achievement, but we had no local athlete taking part.

In the Paralympics it was so different when we had the great honour of seeing a local boy, Jacob Thomas from Bethesda, Clynderwen, selected as a member of the GB Team to take part.

The greatest sporting event of his life and although his team did not win the coveted gold medal we must not forget that the competition attracted the greatest athletes around the world.

We would have liked Jacob’s team to have won the gold, but it was a great achievement to be selected as a member of the GB team and an honour to compete.

Well done Jacob we were all so proud of you.
