On behalf of the town...
11:58am Wednesday 3rd October 2012 in Letters
ON BEHALF of the Haverfordwest Ladies Choir I would like to take the opportunity, through your newspaper, to express publicly my thanks to the Haverfordwest Town Council for their continued support.
The choir is proud to represent the town of Haverfordwest and the wonderful county of Pembrokeshire both at home and further abroad.
In the last few years the choir has travelled on tour to Essex, Ireland and Scotland.
In 2009 the ladies were delighted to be asked to join other groups from Haverfordwest in travelling to Oberkirch to celebrate the twinning of the the two towns.
During this last 12 months the choir has had two tours to Kent to sing in concerts in Faversham and Canterbury.
At Christmas time the choir is always delighted to be able to hold its annual concert in St Mary’s church.
Also during the run up to Christmas last year, members of the choir braved the cold to sing in Castle Square for the town, and also at Withybush hospital.
Earlier this year the ladies joined members of the Goodwick Brass Band for a concert in aid of the Royal British Legion. The choir is always delighted to receive invitations to sing from nursing and care homes, and to take part in fundraising concerts in aid of, for example, Shalom House, Paul Sartori and Macmillan.
All income from the concerts goes to charities, with the choir raising all the money for its expenses from members, friends and fundraising activities.
So, you will appreciate, the choir is extremely grateful for the council’s financial assistance.
