Hundreds of people lined the streets of Haverfordwest today to show their appreciation for our brave soldiers and the work they are doing in battle zones all over the world.
Soldiers from the 14 Signal Regiment, based at Brawdy, paraded from Quay Street to the town's Cenotaph, the cheers and applause of the Pembrokeshire public ringing in their ears.
The soldiers had returned from Helmand province in Afghanistan where they provide support to front line troops throughout the province.
At the Cenotaph they were awarded NATO medals by Haverfordwest Mayor, Cllr Roy Thomas. Miss Wales described as "our very own forces sweetheart" also met and mingled with the soldiers.
The soldiers then marched back to the services club, again applauded by the impressive crowd.
"We were honoured and privileged today to be able to present the NATO medals to the troops, said Cllr Thomas.
"I am absolutely thrilled with the turn out I'm delighted that the people of the town supported the event so well and showed their appreciation for the troops.
"I hope the town is proud of what we've done today, this is a prestigious even for Haverfordwest. I'm delighted that we were able to do this to say 'thank you' to them because it's so important.
"What they are doing out there is fraught with danger. Now that they are back home we are all pleased for them.
"We hope that we will make new friends at the reception with the soldiers and that they will take us up as a family unit and be part of Haverfordwest and Pembrokeshire."
