Feeling blue over lagoon delay

The opening of the multi-million pound Blue Lagoon water attraction at Bluestone has been delayed, the Western Telegraph can reveal.

Problems have appeared in the sub-tropical pool, holding up the opening for more than a month, and causing some refunds.

The Blue Lagoon was scheduled to open for the Whitsun break.

Blue Lagoon manager Scott Sinclair explained: "Recently, a technical problem occurred which caused significant delay to the pool tiling programme.

"Resolving this issue has taken four weeks and a revised programme of works had to be finalised before we could confirm a new opening date. Out of everyone that booked, only 13 people have had to be refunded.

"These last minute issues are completely outside our control. We, and the main contractors Carillion, apologise that this issue has arisen."

Mr Sinclair said everyone who had booked has been invited to join "an exclusive VIP party" on July 12th.

He added: "Guests will have full access to the water park all day as well as complimentary food and drink, entertainment, T-shirts and photo opportunities."
