Last day for charities to apply for help from Tenby Boxing Day Swim

Local charities and good causes are being invited to apply for a helping hand from the proceeds of Tenby’s famous Boxing Day Swim.

The deadline for any organisation which would like to be considered for a donation is today (Friday) and charities should contact Tenby Sea Swimming Association secretary, Nicole Evans, on info@ tenbyboxingdayswim.co.uk.

The event, now in its 42nd year, attracts hundreds of brave bathers and thousands of spectators and raises many thousands of pounds.

This year’s swim will be splashing out to celebrate a super summer of sport for the UK and Pembrokeshire.

The fancy dress theme of Sporting Heroes has been chosen for the event in tribute to a host of magnificent performances, led by Team GB in the Olympics and Paralympics.

Brave bathers may choose to pedal for the sea Bradley Wiggins-style or swing a club to praise our Ryder Cup winners.

And closer to home, the feats of Ironman Wales and Red Bull Cliff Diving contestants are sure to provide inspiration.

“Locally and globally, we’ve witnessed some superb sporting achievements in recent months, and it’s only right that the Tenby Boxing Day Swim gives them an extra cheer,” said swim chairman Chris Osborne.

“And with the emphasis very much on team spirit, we hope to encourage lots more groups this year.”
