TALENT shows, fancy dress, a big dip and a bath of beans – the county had all the ingredients for another great Children in Need.

Pupils and teachers at Milford Haven School raised a staggering £20,741.50 for the charity, after sixth-form students organised a host of activities.

As well as the school’s annual big dip in the icy waters of Broad Haven beach, pupils hosted discos, a bingo evening, a quiz evening and a Stars in Their Eyes show, with acts from each year group taking part.

This year, they also created a charity calendar with staff and students posing for each month of the year, and set up a Bag2School clothes collection which raised £155.

On Friday, senior prefects organised a special assembly where they made teachers compete in a variety of activities only to be covered in cold baked beans, whipped cream and flour.

Saundersfoot School raise £760, when staff and pupils donned their fancy dress and sold cakes, biscuits, and handmade Pudsey badges.

While children from Templeton School and Templetots Nursery raised over £400 by organising an activity morning run and selling Pudsey Bear merchandise.

Staff from Happy Days Childcare, in Milford Haven, Haverfordwest and Crymych, braved the elements on Sunday, completing a big dip at Newgale beach, while the nursery’s only male staff member took on a sponsored leg wax.

And Hannah Dudley, of Hodgeston, had a spa day of her own when she took a dip in a bath of beans for three hours at Lamphey Garage and Spar, raising £285.40.
