Care society to hold homeless collection

Pembrokeshire Care Society will be holding a food collection in the foyer of Haverfordwest’s Morrisons store tomorrow (Saturday).
The charity, which incorporates Pembrokeshire Action for the Homeless, says that homelessness in Pembrokeshire is on the increase and that last year the number of people requiring its aid was 900.
The food collection is to replenish non-perishable food stocks which the charity hands out to homeless people, or those threatened with homelessness, when they move into new tenancies, a time when money is always extremely short.
“Moving into a new tenancy is always costly,” said the charity’s Alyson Bevan. “If circumstances find you in the benefits system things can become very hard. A food parcel helps you over those first few difficult days.”
Pembrokeshire Care Society will be in the foyer of Morrisons from 10am until 6pm tomorrow.
“We would be grateful for any donations of non perishable foodstuffs,” said Alyson. “Anything from a packet of noodles to an economy pack of toilet rolls would be welcome.”
