No Pembrokeshire's schools were placed in the lower tiers of the Welsh Government banding system which gives payouts to the poorer performing schools.

The majority of the county's schools showed improvements in the latest round of results announced before Christmas, with Greenhill and Milford Haven schools moving up two bands, from band four to band two.

The controversial banding system, which was introduced last year, puts schools with the best scores in band one, while those that need to improve are placed in band five.

The first time the system was used in 2011 Pembrokeshire five schools were in band four and eligible for a £10,000 boost from the Welsh Government.

Improvements have meant that no schools in Pembrokeshire are in band four and five.

Ysgol Bro Gwaun, Tasker Milward, Pembroke are in band three, Sir Thomas Picton, Greenhill, Ysgol Dewi Sant, Milford Haven and Ysgol y Preseli are in band two.
