Rave reviews for Pembs resort

Tenby's image as an ideal holiday destination has been boosted in the past couple of weeks after being featured on two high-profile media sites.

A stunning colour picture of Tenby harbour and North Beach taken at daybreak and spread over two pages adorned The Sunday Times travel supplement published recently.

The 48-page pull-out placed Tenby at number 55 in the countdown of the 100 greatest holidays on the planet.

The entry targeted readers wanting an affordable family holiday on the beach.

It went on: “If you hanker after some history – or need more buckets and spades – the fine Regency buildings and pleasing buzz of the town centre are two minutes’ walk away [from the beach].”

Meanwhile the Americanbased Fox News website named Tenby as one of Europe’s ten coolest towns.

“The city walls of the seaside resort town of Tenby might have kept attackers out during the Middle Ages,” the entry observed, “but today they can’t quite contain the pastel Georgian buildings spilling right out onto the sand.

“The view from the harbour is rightly renowned, but you can get an even better taste of Tenby’s medieval past by taking a ramble down one of its narrow, winding alleys – like the quirkily named Lower Frog Street.”

Pembrokeshire County Council cabinet member for economy, tourism and communities, Councillor David Pugh, said: “Both articles have given Tenby – and Pembrokeshire – the sort of advertising that money cannot buy.”
