Three in running for Dyfed-Powys top cop job

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Dyfed-Powys has today revealed the name of the candidates in the running for the post of Chief Constable with Dyfed-Powys Police.

Commissioner Christopher Salmon has received three applications for the role from:

· Jackie Roberts, currently Temporary Chief Constable, Dyfed-Powys Police;

· Nick Ingram, currently Deputy Chief Constable, Dyfed-Powys Police;

· Simon Prince, currently Assistant Chief Constable with Gwent Police.

Commissioner Salmon, who will be the first Commissioner to appoint a Chief Constable in Wales, since elections in November, last year, said: “I am delighted that we have received applicants from three quality candidates.

“The Chief Constable role is critical to delivering an effective policing service for our communities. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a fantastic police service and an important first step in building the team that will keep us all safe in the coming years.”

“My role is to ensure the public has full confidence in the police and that means recruiting the best person for this critical role. The candidates will undergo a rigorous recruitment process.”

Assessments and interviews will take place on February 21st and 22nd. It is anticipated the Commissioner will be in a position to announce the name of the successful candidate sometime in early March, this year.
