Space to create lanterns for parade
3:20pm Tuesday 12th February 2013 in News
Local community arts group spacetocreate is planning a special lantern parade for St David’s Day and is holding free workshops, starting tomorrow, in preparation.
Anyone who wants to get involved can take part in a workshop at the Picton Centre, Haverfordwest tomorrow (Wednesday, February 13th) from 10.30am to 1pm or 1.30pm to 4pm.
Workshops will also be held the week before the Follow the Dragon parade on Saturday, February 23rd, 10.30am to 1pm or 1.30pm to 4pm at the Picton Centre.
All ages are welcome and children under 12 years need to be accompanied by an adult at the workshops.
In the run-up to St David’s Day, five local primary schools in Haverfordwest will be working with artists from spacetocreate community arts to make lanterns for the parade.
Thanks to support from Haverfordwest Town Council, Action for Children will also be hosting two workshops specifically for young carers and children and young people with special needs from The Hawthorn Project.
The overall project is supported by the Arts Council of Wales and Milford Haven Port Authority.
The Follow the Dragon parade on March 1st, will leave the Picton Centre at 6.30pm, accompanied by traditional Welsh and Celtic music, followed by a firedrawing finale by Westcoast Fireworks on Picton Playing fields.
