MilFest music festival to take place in Milford Haven, in aid of Clic Sargent

Driven by her mother’s illness, a young Pembroke Dock musician has organised a music festival to raise money for cancer sufferers.

Tiarna Heath has teamed up with her dad Tony to organise MilFest from noon to 1am tomorrow (Saturday) at the Imperial Function Centre, in Milford Haven, in aid of Clic Sargent.

The 15-year-old decided to raise money for the cancer charity after her mum Katherine was diagnosed with womb cancer and cancer of the spine just over a year ago.

Tiarna, who is a young carer for her mum, said: “Because of my mum’s cancer, and my interest in music, I wanted to do something for a cancer charity, but for my own age group.

“A lot of people raise money for cancer charities, but no one really recognises it in younger people. And I think that the amazing work that Clic Sargent does – supporting the person affected and their families – should be recognised.”

Tiarna, who plays bass with the SAD Cafe Jammers, in Pembroke Dock, said she has always been interested in music.

She said: “I have grown up around music, and my dad, who is a retired sound engineer, has had a big influence on me in that. So I wanted to use my interest and my dad’s experience to put MilFest together, and do it for something important.”

Tony, who has toured with the likes of Status Quo and Whitesnake, added: “I am so proud of Tiarna and what she’s done. And I know that she could go out anywhere and gig like any other band. I am proud as punch.”

The MilFest line-up includes SAD Cafe Jammers, Seconds from Ruin, Devil’s Answer, Liverpool’s Rock and Roll band The Jokers, and many more.
