Haverfordwest pair return for reunion recital

Two award-winning musicians from Haverfordwest are returning to their Pembrokeshire roots to perform a reunion recital at Theatr Mwldan.

Kathryn Thomas and Roger Owens, who played together during their schooldays at Tasker Milward, have reunited after many years to perform in Cardigan on Saturday (February 23rd), at 7.30pm.

Kathryn, on flute, and Roger, on piano, will perform a range of compositions, including the Poulenc Sonata for flute and piano, and Frank Martin’s Ballade, and Roger’s solos will include works by Schubert and Chopin.

During their schooldays, both musicians won the secondary schools instrumentalists Amoco cup in their early teens, before going on to professional training in London.

Roger attended the Royal College of Music, winning the prestigious Chappell and Tagore Gold Medals, while Kathryn was made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music for distinction in the music profession.

Kathryn is also a founder member of the Galliard Ensemble (former BBC New Generation Artists).

Tickets are £12 (£10 concessions), and programme details can be found at www.petergould.org.
