Three vie for top cop job

Assessments and interviews for Dyfed-Powys Police’s top cop job will take place today (Thursday) and Friday.

The current temporary chief constable and deputy chief constable of Dyfed-Powys Police have put their names forward for the job of chief constable of Dyfed-Powys Police.

Police and Crime Commissioner Christopher Salmon announced that he has received three applications for the role.

They include Jackie Roberts, currently temporary chief constable, and Nick Ingram, currently deputy chief constable.

The third applicant is Simon Prince, currently assistant chief constable with Gwent Police.

Mr Salmon, the first commissioner to appoint a chief constable in Wales since the elections in November last year, said: “I am delighted that we have received applicants from three quality candidates.

“My role is to ensure the public has full confidence in the police and that means recruiting the best person for this critical role. The candidates will undergo a rigorous recruitment process.”

It is anticipated the commissioner will announce the successful candidate some time in early March.
