Simon set to take top cop job

The current Assistant Chief Constable of Gwent Police, Simon Prince, is set to step up to the top cop role in the Dyfed-Powys force, subject to confirmation by the Police and Crime Panel which is meets today (Friday) .

Asst Chief Con Prince has been selected as the preferred candidate for the role by the Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner Christopher Salmon.

Mr Salmon said: “The calibre of candidates was very high and I have been impressed with the contributions of all.

“Mr Prince’s performance throughout the process was excellent. I am confident that he will bring strong leadership to Dyfed-Powys Police.

“His enthusiasm and ability to develop new ideas and innovative solutions will be essential to steer the Force effectively through future challenges.

“I look forward to working with Simon as Chief Constable for Dyfed-Powys Police to deliver a policing service that is responsive to community needs.”

Assistant Chief Con Simon Prince said: “I am delighted to have been selected as the Police and Crime Commissioner’s preferred candidate and I look forward to working with him.

“This is an exciting opportunity to join and lead Dyfed- Powys Police to protect the public and to further improve the service that our communities expect and deserve.”
