Fishguard’s lifeboat crews have been praised for the “fantastic job” they do, after a rescue yesterday (Sunday) night.
Both boats were launched to search for the yacht Papillon, with two crew onboard , at 8.10pm. The town’s coastguard crew and Preseli sector manager were also tasked to the incident.
Pete Parkman, the owner of Papillon explained that they were en route from New Quay and decided to dock at Fishguard for the night.
As the weather got worse he realised they were in a vulnerable position and called the coastguards.
Both Fishguard boats were launched to look for them and accompanied Papillon to safer moorings.
“I lost my anchor and my radio was not receiving only broadcasting,” said Pete.
“It got really really rough and we weren’t in a good spot but we are safe and sound now.
“These guys are fabulous, they do a fantastic job and go out in all weather. They are super.”
