Concert to remember inspirational teacher
8:40am Friday 22nd March 2013 in News
An inspirational music teacher who died last year will be remembered at a special tribute concert tomorrow (Saturday)
Pupils across the county will be tuning up for the concert for Tim Bourne who worked as a trumpet teacher and conductor with Pembrokeshire Music Service for more than 21 years. He was also involved with many community music groups throughout the county and inspired a generation of pupils.
He died last October, aged 51.
The musical tribute concert at Sir Thomas Picton School, Haverfordwest, will feature the Pembrokeshire Schools Orchestra, Wind Band, Jazz Ensembles, Symphonic Brass and Choir.
It will include present day pupils plus former orchestra and band members, who will return especially for the tribute.
“Tim was an inspirational teacher and held in very high esteem by his pupils and his fellow music tutors,” said Chris Llewellyn, Pembrokeshire County Council’s music co-ordinator.
“He inspired many young people with a love of music and is much missed.”
The concert takes place on March 23rd at 7pm. Tickets cost £6 for adults, £4 for concessions and will be available on the door.
