THE A449 northbound has re-opened following the earlier accident investigation work between the Coldra and the A472 at Usk.
ONE man has died following the crash on the A449 this afternoon Gwent Police have confirmed.
They say the collision involved "a HGV" at around 4.45pm this afternoon and they are appealing for anyone with information to contact 101.
THE A449 Northbound remains closed following this afternoon's accident and congestion is reported on the eastbound stretch of the M4 to J25 at Caerleon.
A diversion is in place, with drivers advised to leave the M4 at J26 to travel north on the A451 and the A4042 to Abergavenny, then east on the A40, to re-join the A449/A40 interchange at Raglan.
There is no estimated re-opening time.
THE A449 is closed between Newport and Usk this afternoon due to a serious accident involving two lorries.
Queueing traffic is reported due to serious accident and emergency services are in attendance to the accident, which has occurred just before the turning for Usk, with no estimated re-opening time.
