Pembrokeshire residents will soon be able to bag ringside seats for a summer cliff diving spectacle.

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World series takes place at Abereiddy in September.

It will be the second time that the prestigious extreme sport competition series has stopped off in the County and follows its UK debut at the Blue Lagoon last year.

Now residents will be able to buy seats to watch the event when they go on sale at tourist information centres across the County on July 15th.

Deputy Leader, Councillor Rob Lewis, said he was thrilled that the organisers had decided to return to the county a second time.

“Red Bull makes huge efforts to select some of the most stunning cliff diving locations in the world for its series and for Pembrokeshire to be among them both last year and this year is a major coup for the County.

“Pictures and images of the event will once again showcase Pembrokeshire to the world. It’s a wonderful platform for tourism and provides a great chance for residents to gain ringside seats.”

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series is now in its fifth year. The professional divers push the limits of their bodies and minds by performing dives from platform heights of 27m, which are scored by five high diving judges.

Abereiddy will be the sixth stop on this year’s eight stop tour. Other locations will include France, Denmark, Italy, Portugal, USA, Brazil and Thailand.

The divers are expected in Pembrokeshire in the second week in September. The qualifying round takes place on Friday September 13th with the finals held on Saturday September 14th. Because of the cliff top location, there is limited audience capacity so tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. They cost £5 each with under-fives free.
