ACOMB have retained the York & District Junior Cricket Association Quality Solicitors Burn & Company Under-11s division one championship, writes Toby Latham.

Acomb defeated Heworth ‘A’ to maintain their 100 per cent winning record this season, having claimed nine victories out of nine.

Jamie Thornton was again in the runs with 22 not out, supported by useful knocks from Dan Tingle (13no) and Thomas Brown (11no).

Tingle then took 2-3 and Sean Paine 1-4, yet both performances were overshadowed by that of Harry Watkinson, who bagged 3-4 in just three overs.

Heworth’s Lewis Meek also performed admirably, taking 1-8 in his allotted overs and striking a well-made 18.

Tom Francis starred with bat and ball for Heworth ‘A’ in their win over Dunnington ‘A’ – scoring 17 not out before taking 4-4 in two overs.

The Heworth cause was also aided by good performances from Jack Wilkinson and Leo Jones, who made 14 and 19 respectively.

Dunnington’s Harry Griffiths, however, was not to be outdone as he starred with 21 not out and 3-7.

In reply, Harvey Dixon scored 30 and Alex Young 12 not out, but Pocklington lost too many wickets throughout their innings.

In division two, the meeting between Acomb ‘B’ and Heworth ‘B’ served up a close contest with Acomb claiming victory by six runs.

In reply, Heworth’s Jack Wilkinson batted superbly in his innings of 18 and also finished with figures of 3-14, while Leo Jones made 14 not out.
