ONE of Haverfordwest’s proudest glasses wearers has been nominated as a regional runner-up in the competition to be named Spectacle Wearer of the Year.
Forty-one-year-old Luke Swaine, from Haverfordwest, was chosen from hundreds of entries from across Wales.
Mr Swaine said: ‘I entered the competition as a joke to put a smile on my partners face.
"I took the silliest photo I could think of but then I had a phone call a couple of weeks later to say I had been nominated as a regional finalist!’
The Spectacle Wearer of the Year awards celebrate glasses-wearers from the UK and Republic of Ireland, across four age categories: 15-24; 25-39; 40-59 and over-60, and were launched by former Spice Girl Melanie C earlier this year.
The competition saw Wales produce one finalist from among the four age categories; 42-year-old Georgina Bunch from Bridgend who will now go on to the grand final at London’s iconic Royal Opera House on Tuesday, September 10.
All age category winners have already bagged themselves a VIP makeover, but one overall winner, announced on the night, will take home the ultimate accolade in specs wearing, along with a two week premier, all-inclusive holiday for two to St Lucia.
