INSPIRED by his heroes Wallace and Gromit, six-year-old Cleddau Reach pupil Dylan Allman has come up with a cracking idea to raise money for charity.
In between school, swimming lessons and attending Beavers, busy bee Dylan spends much of his time in the kitchen coming up with wacky and wonderful recipes.
He has now decided to publish them in his very own cookbook to raise money the Wallace and Gromit Children’s Charity, which supports sick children in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK.
With help from Mum Lorraine, Dylan – who lives in Llangwm - has set up a page on website Crowdfunder to raise money to print the print book.
He has already raised £330 of the £450 total he needs to get his idea off the ground, but is appealing for more support.
“It’s quite a lot of money and then I have to sell 100 books too, but it’s for my favourite charity and I don’t mind working really hard,” said Dylan.
Dylan’s book will contain 24 recipes based around the four seasons, all of which he has made himself.
Lorraine has been helping Dylan photograph his culinary creations, and with tasty treats such as apple custard pie with shaving foam, chicken and leek pie and Dylan’s personal favourite, flapjack stacks, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.
If Dylan meets his target, the books will be sold locally for £6 each.
“It’s all or nothing, if Dylan doesn’t get the full £450 in pledges by the closing date then he gets nothing,” said Lorraine.
Everyone who pledges will receive a postcard from Dylan thanking them for their donation, and a copy of the book once it’s printed.
Phil Geraghty, managing director of Crowdfunder, said: “I think it’s fantastic that Dylan has such a business head on him at such a young age – we are so excited to be part of his journey and would love Dylan’s story to encourage other young people to do the same.”
