Schools in Croydon have been rewarded for their outstanding commitment to physical education at a prestigious awards ceremony at the Crystal Palace National Sport's Centre.
The Sportsmark and Activemark Award Ceremony gave special recognition to teachers and pupils from schools all over England which provided an environment that encourages physical activity.
The awards were presented by Paula George (England women's rugby captain); Abi Oyepitan (world student games champion); Charlotte Dallas (GB swimming record holder) and Silas Cheung (London Towers Player)
The Croydon schools involved were Coulsdon High, Whitgift, Woodcote High, Addington College, Wandsworth and Putney High.
The Activemark award distinguishes schools that offer broad and balanced PE programmes and that address the importance of staying active for life.
The Sportsmark award was awarded to schools who additionally have effective PE policies and practices in place and who offered a quality out-of-school hours sports programme.
