Pembrokeshire County Council meeting to be broadcast live on the internet

TODAY’S (Thursday) meeting of Pembrokeshire County Council will be the first to be broadcast live over the internet.

The meeting takes place at County Hall at 10am and will be webcast live at the website www.pembrokeshire.public-i.tv/

The website will also hold an archive of recorded meetings.

The webcasting follows a notice of motion by Conservative councillor David Howlett that had originally called for members of the public to be allowed to film council meetings.

But, following concerns about how such public filming could be edited and presented, councillors decided that webcasting the meetings would be the best way forward.

A year-long pilot scheme has been approved with full council meetings the first to be broadcast.

A report to the Corporate Governance Committee earlier this year suggested that the move will cost around £15,000 for cameras, microphones and web hosting.

The agenda for the council meeting now contains a warning to members of the public that the meeting “may be filmed for live or subsequent broadcast”.

It adds that although the public seating area is generally not filmed, by “entering the public gallery area you are consenting to be filmed and to possible use of those images and sound recordings for webcasting and/or training purposes.”

Saw most of it, I'm sure BPJ is a lovely guy but he did come across as the puppet master - whispers behind hands and telling someone who was supposed to be the Chairman what to do - you could tell he was the Chairman as his toilet chain was bigger than the guys' next to him

(BPJ does know he's a Public SERVANT does he ?)

It seems to have finished - is it Lunchtime or did they not have time for the unimportant little items such as pension contributions and expenses - affecting only BPJ and the very succesful businessman Mr Adams ?

I got online just after 10.30 and it said it was finished. I know these people have a lot to hide but for all their posturing about how important and valuable they are to the county it seems to be a meaningless exercise.

@Tttoommy.
You hit the nail on the head regarding BJP "whispers behind hands and telling someone who was "supposed" to be the Chairman what to do".How long would the Chairman last without the"help" of this diligent public servant??

The majority off residents in the "Dock" are delighted with the improvements which have been funded by the commercial property grants.

Could this be compared in any way with the fact that the majority of US citizens were probably delighted with the number of Lance Armstrong, Tour de France victories funded by the US Postal service ?
