The trial has begun at Swansea crown court today (Tuesday) of a Tenby man accused of murder.

Steven Daniel Williams, aged 30, denies murdering Joanna Elizabeth Hall, also 30, on April 4 last year.

Miss Hall was assaulted at her home in Cresswell Street, Tenby, on March 16, and died from her injuries at Morriston hospital, Swansea, on April 4.

Williams, of Newell Hill, 25 Marsh Road, Tenby, faces a four week trial.

Today, the jury were sworn in before a High Court judge, Mrs Justice Nicola Davis, who gave them the first of several instructions before sending them home for the day.

The remainder of the day was taken up by legal argument.

The jury will return to court tomorrow (Wed) when they will hear Miss Elwen Evans QC, the barrister leading the prosecution, open the case to them.

The first witnesses will be called to give evidence immediately afterwards.

Miss Evans is supported by barrister John Hipkin, while the defence team consists of Chris Clee QC and Geraint Walters.
